Rimyongsu Update
Well, I wish I could tell you that we’re doing well. Or that we’re even, you know, competitive.
When I last posted, we had finished one season, amassing a great goal differential of -146:
But at least we managed to hit 23rd place!
Our second season was a little bit better. We got a good crop of youngsters in through our first youth intake, and the difference was remarkable:
21st isn’t bad, especially since our goal differential was once again the second worst in the league. 10 victories was a lot better than I was expecting, and I think we could have done better than this with a little bit more luck.
Sadly, though, the third season has been a disaster.
We look better on paper. However, we’ve suffered from some upset squad members. We’re also trying to move away from our 30 year old goalkeeper, who has had a number of poor matches and who is getting on my nerves. Unfortunately, he’s also a very influential player.
Anyway, we find ourselves 23rd about halfway into the season:
Our defense is awful, and we’ve gone through a number of long stretches without scoring any goals.
I do think things will improve over time. Most of our squad is under 20 years old, and the players are improving as quickly as they can.
The board seems to love me, by the way:
Well, okay, so maybe it’s not love, but at least they tolerate me. And I should note that we beat Caldas, the number 1 team in the league, by a 1-0 score in our most recent match. That’s not awful, is it?
