American Samoa
Our first stop in the Hexagon Challenge adventure will be in American Samoa.
You might wonder why in the world I’ve decided to choose a country to start off in, rather than going through the traditional interview process. Well, it just so happens that job interviews in Football Manager are extremely time consuming and are simply no fun at all.
You can read more about this in my prior post:
Football Manager Job Interview Blues
Football Manager Job Interview Blues I decided not to start my Pentagon Challenge project unemployed after all. Don’t get me wrong — I did give it a try. I had a number of videos ready for YouTube, and was thinking of ways I could describe the arduous and mind-numbing task of applying for vitual jobs within the game.
Choosing my destination to start things off has saved quite a bit of time, and has saved me the headache of making sure that I don’t accidentally click on the random button that tells Football Manager to get rid of all of my other job applications.
It also helps me figure out which moment in time I should start my save at. I’ve chosen to start things off at the very beginning of the American Samoa preseason to ensure our tactical familiarity.
PanSa East F.C.
I chose PanSa East F.C. in an extremely arbitrary fashion. I simply chose a middle of the pack team and went for it.
I think we might be able to compete for the title in this first season, though I suppose that depends on my tactical creation skills. We’ll see what happens.
Rather than spamming these posts with information about each player, I will keep all of that information on separate blog pages. You can view the PanSa East F.C. information page here:
PanSa East F.C.
PanSa East F.C. are a club in American Samoa, which is part of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC). Like all the clubs in American Samoa, PanSa East F.C. plays its matches at Pago Park Soccer Stadium in Pago Pago, American Samoa. You can learn more about the club on
What’s Going To Change?
A few things will change on this blog as I move forward with this project.
Fewer Game Summaries. Rather than writing a game summary every day, I am planning on writing two per week. I will write these in the Football Manager stories format, and will post each story on the Sports Interactive Community Forums. If you wish to follow the day-to-day adventures of this save, please check out my YouTube channel.
More In-Depth Content. I’m going to push myself to write more deeper dives on football in the countries that we play in, and will try my hardest to do more research to help with the immersion process.
More Evergreen Content. Similarly, I am going to post more evergreen content on this blog. I’ve learned through trial and error that general content and tips tend to attract more viewers than game summaries alone.
More static pages. Rather than relying on newsletter pages alone, I will create more blog-style content with an eye towards making a permanent record of this extensive Football Manager project. You can always find the latest information (as well as prior save results) on this splash page:
Hexagon Challenge
My current save is a massive Hexagon Challenge. The Hexagon Challenge involves winning the Champions League in all six continents: Oceania, Africa, Asia, North America, South America, and Europe, in that order. This will take months at least, especially considering how slowly I usually play. It might take years before this is done. But I’m up for the ch…
Please let me know what you think! Also, please be patient — I am entering uncharted waters, and am quite literally making this up as I go. There is no company behind me, no sponsor money, and not even a good understanding of current demand. This is entirely a passion project, and I hope that it inspires others to pursue similar ideas.
