You Might Not Have Been FM’d
We’ve all gone through it. Your team dominates a match, and you know for certain that you’re going to win.
But it doesn’t happen.
For one reason or another, you wind up not scoring at all. The match ends, and you’re stuck with a bore 0-0 draw. Or, even worse, you wind up losing.
You were FM’d, right?
Well — not necessarily.
We wound up with a 0-0 draw against Slavia Sofia in a match that we numerically dominated.
However, after reviewing the match carefully, I think our inability to score came down to 3 things:
They played very defensively. We weren’t able to get any of our big guns open for runs or quick goals because of the number of players they had playing back. We had no openings.
We made poor decisions. Whether it was out of frustration or nerves, a number of our players decided to launch up wild shots instead of passing and playing through the offense.
We had bad luck. There were three headers we should have scored, and there was a penalty that VAR missed. I can only chalk it up to bad luck.
Maybe bad luck belongs under the “FM’d” category — but I’d argue that there’s more to it than just that.
What do you think?
