Too Much Raw Video
My plan is to create a long video featuring the entire story of my Hallam Youth Academy Challenge save, from start to finish.
Now, to stand a realistic chance of actually finishing the save (something I still haven’t done), I can’t play out every single match. I have to be selective, making sure to play the key matches while trusting my staff to handle the rest.
In experimenting with this sort of format, I’ve learned over time that it’s important to have at least a slightly hands-on approach. Some content creators prefer to holiday through entire seasons. I’ve tried that; however, that approach generally leaves me with no idea who my players are and no real connection to the save.
Instead, I tend to holiday slowly through a season, playing most games automatically and taking over only for games that are clearly significant.
I’m about 13 seasons in, and have recorded around 133 games. And they take up almost an entire terabyte.
Some of this is my fault. I tend to record in OBS at the highest possible quality - 60 frames per second, and so on.
But some of this has me wondering about whether there isn’t a more efficient way of recording these. Here are a few ideas I have for the future:
Recording important parts of games after the fact. The only problem here is that FM24 won’t show replays after a play has taken place. However, the nice part is that you can change the camera angle much more easily while you watch.
Cutting up individual games after the fact. Most of the game broadcasts consist of clips that I’ll never use. However, this is time consuming and can be frustrating.
Playing through entire seasons, and then looking at film of the important matches at the end. Though this is a viable solution, you’d have to do it at the end of every season, since Football Manager only allocates a limited amount of space to individual game data.
Let me know if you have any other ideas. I’d love to know.
