The Oceania Conundrum
Now that we know we’re probably not going to win the league this season, it’s time to talk about our long-term plan for Oceania — and for the save in general.
Playing in Oceania is fun, of course. However, that’s not the purpose of this project. We need to win the Champions League, and we need to move on as quickly as we can.
I think that gives us two options.
Option 1: Find A Bigger Club
How long do you think it will take us to win the Oceania Champions League as PanSa East FC?
I’m not quite sure how long it might take. I do know, though, that it will take at least one more season, since it’s clear that we’re not going to win the league this season.
The idea, then, is to build up enough of an in-game resume to attract some team in New Zealand, Fiji, or another nation that has a better chance of winning the Champions League. My goal here would be to jump over as quickly as possible, win the silverware in a season or two, and then move on to the next stage.
The problem, of course, is that I need a high enough reputation for them to consider me. That part doesn’t come easy.
Option 2: Build Up PanSa East FC
The second option is to stay put and try to build up a super team for the future.
It’s not easy. Countries like American Samoa don’t usually produce star level talent, and there’s really no chance of us wooing amateur players from other islands to play on our own.
However, if we do stay put, we’ll get to know the better players on this side. We’ll increase our sense of ownership over the team. And we’ll have one heck of a story to tell.
What do you think? I’ve made comments open to all on this post.
