The North Korean Ronaldo
I sighed Han Kwang-song (한광성) the other day.
Actually, it was a few weeks back.
And he’s really good.
Han was available on a free transfer, believe it or not. I suppose signing him is kind of like cheating in that sense.
Football Manager doesn’t even try to emulate whatever the economics of North Korean domestic football are. In Han’s case, nobody knew if he was playing for a domestic team or not after international sanctions required him to return to North Korea in 2021.
It feels like cheating — and probably is.
And, boy, he came in handy in this one.
We weren’t supposed to have a chance in the FA Cup replay match against Hull, even though we were at home.
But, boy oh boy, we showed those critics wrong.
Han Kwang-Song scored his first goal for us, and we hung on to win in another thriller.
Who knows how far up we’ll go?
