Guess what? I’ve got a splash page for this project, too! Come see it here!
The Nonconference Schedule
I don’t understand exactly why this is part of this database, but we’ll go with it anyway. We’ve got 7 “nonconference” games against random teams to open up the season, after which we will finally play the teams in our league (or “conference”).
Anyway, we went out to play Florida Atlantic, and we beat them pretty badly.
Youngster Grant Martin wound up being the hero, scoring two goals and showing that people not named Aldana are capable of scoring once in a while.
It was a good victory, though it wasn’t all that entertaining. We dominated the whole way and made it look easy.
Introductions
Speaking of Grant Martin, let’s get to know him.
Martin is a 15-year-old attacking midfielder from Kansas City. He’s got a great professional attitude, but has issues with consistency. He looks good at the moment, but I’ve got a feeling that the weaknesses in his game will shine through before long.
Martin is another one of those players that I likely would never play in a “normal” save. I’m forced to play him here because we simply can’t get anyone else — and not for a lack of money, either.
Our other newcomer is Alpha Doe, who has the best name I’ve yet seen in a newgen.
Doe is 25 years old and hails from San Diego, though he also randomly has a secondary Liberian nationality.
Doe’s only weakness is his injury proneness.
Month In Review
I’ve decided to skip the financial month in review for this save. We can only purchase 4 players per year, and we can’t purchase any foreign players. As a result, we will likely never run down our transfer budget, and the club finances will probably never be a concern.
The board is happy with the job I’ve been doing so far. This makes sense, given how few matches we’ve played.
The supporters also seem to like the tactic, and have nothing negative to say.
We’ve got a good squad that seems to be blending well. There is a clear hierarchy, which is always a good thing. I still don’t funny understand why Evan Boden is seen as a team leader, and I doubt that will last long. Aldana is clearly a better player and is a much better leader.
Coming Home
We’ve got our first home match of the save coming up. Kind of odd that it’s the 5th match overall.
We’ll beat Maryland — of that I am sure.
