The Kashiwa Mutiny
I’ll be blunt. Stuff like this makes me want to stop playing Football Manager.
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this club. I’ve spent a lot of time and effort trying to make a tactic that makes sense. I’ve put a lot of research into this, and I don’t think I’ve done an awful job.
However, 10 players on the club forced me into a meeting to tell me that they want me gone.
Now, we didn’t crumble against Muangthong United, like we could have. We came out with a respectable 1-1 draw, actually. And we dominated the stats once again.
That doesn’t bother me that much. Heck, having players upset with me doesn’t bother me that much.
But having players trying to force me out of the team for no reason really bothers me.
There’s no way that you can resolve the attempted mutiny. The game gives you no choice. All you can do is watch what you say, try to take the pressure off your players, and hope that they start playing better.
I’m sticking with this save for the time being, though I know that there’s always a chance that my players will desert me. And, honestly, that threat really takes the fun out of projects like this one.
Sports Interactive needs to do a better job with the morale system. It’s been broken for years — and it feels particularly harsh in Football Manager 2024. You shouldn’t punish your customers for not playing the game perfectly.
