The Football Manager 2025 Rollout
We’re embarking on what should be the most exciting time of the year for Football Manager fans.
And yet Sports Interactive has managed to make everybody feel upset.
Traditionally, September, October, and November have been filled with excited anticipation of the pending release of the new Football Manager game. Around this time of year, FM forums tend to be filled with speculative posts, requests for improvements (far too late for any to be implemented), and countdowns to the official beta release.
But all of that seems to have ended.
Sports Interactive appears dead set on a gradual release, and apparently has chosen to completely skip over the public beta stage this time around.
No new features have been announced. This website indicates that new feature announcements will take place over the coming weeks, starting in October. It strikes me as similar to the new feature rollout period we see from companies like Paradox Interactive — except that this has started far too late in the season.
Football Manager fans and content creators are predicting that this game will be a spectacular failure. Actually, this is nothing new. We see posts like this every single year — and yet the game is more popular and sells more copies with each passing year.
It will take some time before we can conclude whether FM25 is actually worth the money. However, it would be nice if Sports Interactive actually told us something about what is included before asking us to preorder.
As I said last year: don’t preorder this game.
