The E-Crowd Simulator
This is going to be a bit awkward, since I can’t actually run this add on.
I noticed this forum post about a year and a half ago on FM Scout. It’s for a more realistic crowd noise for games like Football Manager and FIFA.
Sadly, it’s only available for Windows.
I don’t understand exactly how it works, but I can guess. My guess is that this tool can detect when either Football Manager or FIFA is running, and can somehow understand what is happening in game with minimal manual input from the user.
Because of this, the software can read who is playing which match, and can then load the appropriate sound pack.
The results are actually quite impressive:
The problem, of course, is that I’m running Linux — and there’s no way in the world I’m going to give any program like this kernel access.
However, I would absolutely love to see something like this in future versions of Football Manager. My understanding is that the current sound system is very generic, and that it doesn’t offer any changes based on the teams that are playing, whether the game is a derby, or anything like that.
Perhaps one day we’ll see some improvements.
