Stay The Course
It’s been pretty rough in the early going for us.
We began with a wild 5-5 draw with Vaiala Tongan, a game that makes me believe that our two clubs have developed a really meaningful rivalry. Don’t believe me? Watch for yourself:
We followed that one up with a less than convincing 5-3 victory against lowly Utulei:
And, finally, our match against Lion Heart was a really ugly 1-1 draw, marred by multiple injuries to key players:
This isn’t exactly what I had in mind, and has me wondering if I didn’t make too many changes.
What Should We Do?
Well, what should we do?
We could mess around a bunch with the tactic, though I don’t think that’s likely the best method. We’ve already experimented a lot with the two striker system. I prefer to have Peyton Malani playing as an attacking central midfielder due to his quality and potential. We haven’t seen any strikers come by who are anywhere close to as good as Toa Maile.
We could mess around in the back, though I think we’ll be fine in the end. We might want to consider not playing Ueli Tualaulelei together with Ioane Palepua at center back, since the two of them seem to not get along so well.
That’s really about it, though. Because of the nature of this league, we can’t exactly make a whole bunch of changes at this point. We’re stuck with the players we have, for better or for worse.
It’s more fun this way, actually. I look forward to seeing whose performances start to stand out.
