Self Inflicted Wounds
I’m writing this at the end of January 2025. And, surprise surprise, we still have no further information on Football Manager 25.
The fallout so far in the community has been predictable:
Meanwhile, the official Sports Interactive forums are continuing the attack on the company:
“So what,” you ask. What’s the worst that can happen?
The worst that can happen is people will stop caring about the game.
I’ve found myself playing far less frequently than I was. The excitement I had for FM25 is gone. It’s feeling more like a chore to play than it used to.
People will start playing with the older versions of the game. They might wind up playing with games created years ago by competitors to the Championship Manager and Football Manager franchises. Or they might start picking up sims of completely different sports to get their gaming fix.
This lack of communication is not okay. It’s yet another symptom of a problem that has been around for a long time.
And Sports Interactive needs to get this fixed.
