Scouting While Broke
Have a lower league side in Football Manager? Want to know how to make the most of your limited budget?
Here are some tips that will help you expand your in-game scouting range without costing a ton of money:
Hire scouts from other countries. Be strategic, too. Don’t just sign the scouts with the best ratings. Sign scouts from countries you know you’ll want to find players from.
Hire scouts with knowledge of other countries. You can search for knowledge of specific countries as you search for scouts. Take advantage of this fact. It’s a benefit to you if the scouts come in already familiar with multiple countries in your area.
Hire players and staff members from countries you are interested in. Staff members (coaches, medical staff, etc.) and even players from foreign countries will help increase your scouting knowledge. Take advantage of this fact.
Choose your starting nationality wisely. North Korea might not be a hotbed for football talent. However, having a second North Korean nationality will put you in a position to know if a wonderkid comes out of the great north, just in case.
Choose players to scout yourself. Instead of sending your scouts out on a wild goose chase, you can tell them to scout certain players. Try scouting the U18 and U19 national teams of target countries. You can find extremely good young players this way without having to break the bank.
