Personality Over Attributes
You can waste a lot of time looking for the perfect staff member in your save.
It’s actually pretty frustrating. You want to make sure that you put your club in a position to succeed, and yet you won’t always be able to find the perfect person for the job.
It’s especially challenging when you’re a lower league side without much reputation or money. Good staff members will usually not want to work for you. A number of those who have some interest will demand wages that you simply can’t pay.
What I’ve learned from the analysis by Evidence Based Football Manager and others is that those attributes don’t necessarily matter as much as you think.
Consider the following:
Youth intake works through a hidden draft based system, which depends greatly on your team’s reputation in comparison with other teams in the area.
The ability of young players to hit their potential ability in their career is largely dictated by their Professionalism, Ambition, and Determination ratings — ratings that are shown by the player’s personality.
The Head of Youth Development has an ability to influence the personality of young players that are developed.
Taking all three of those into account, I’ve concluded that the best course of action is to sign a Model Citizen Head of Youth Development, regardless of what his attributes might be.
What do you think?
