You know that I couldn’t resist when I saw this:

Championship Manager 4 is known for being a really controversial release. As well received as the new 2D match engine was, there were tons of bugs that severely impacted the playing experience.

That’s why this review is so interesting to look back on:

Now, the interesting thing to me is that the reviewers didn’t quite catch the major issues with this game, such as the occasional random change of the match score (minor details), or lower division sides signing some of the best players in the game. I’m surprised that they never noticed when Nothwich Victoria suddenly had a stadium capacity of 850,000.

Like Championship Manager 3, Championship Manager 4 was delayed. Perhaps we shouldn’t be so surprised by the FM25 delay after all.
