Managing In America
Major League Soccer management in Football Manager is awful.
And it really isn’t Sports Interactive’s fault.
The problem is the salary system and the structure of the MLS. As it stands, MLS management is mostly pointless for the following reasons:
There’s no promotion and relegation system, meaning you can’t take an underdog club on a Cinderella journey.
The salary cap rules are extremely complex and byzantine.
You risk losing good players to foreign teams all the time, due in large part to the awful salary cap rules.
The process for importing foreign players is bizarre and makes little sense.
Here are some alternatives for Football Manager 2024:
US 10 Tier Database — This appears to have real teams reorganized in a structure that makes more sense.
Ultimate USA Pyramid — Versions of this have been around for a few years now. This is a complete reimagination of the American system, and one that I find quite compelling.
Reorganized American Pyramid — This one also looks quite promising.
