How To Prevent Injuries In Football Manager
Believe it or not, there are ways that you can prevent injuries in Football Manager.
Don’t be like me. Don’t completely ignore your backroom staff and your facilities. Do the things you need to do to help your team become injury free.
A few useful tips:
Make sure there are rest periods in your training schedule. Training the players round the clock will result in more injuries.
Sell players who are injury prone. The coach report will tell you if the player is injury prone.
Pay attention to player natural fitness ratings - the higher the better.
Set training intensity to “no pitch or gym work” for players who have anything less than full condition.
Use a tactic that is not intense.
Avoid using players with less than perfect conditioning and match sharpness during matches. Players who are chronically not match fit or match sharp should be available for the B team until they are match fit and match sharp.
Ensure that your club has the highest possible training facilities.
Buy physios. Football Manager is full of physios who have a rating of 20 for physiotherapy. If your physio is not a 20, fire him and get one who has a 20.
Buy better sport scientists. It’s harder to find staff members who have a 20 for sports science, but it’s easy to find sport scientists with ratings of 15 or above, even for very low level teams.
Buy better fitness coaches. A good general rule of thumb is to dismiss all coaches as soon as you come to a new team and load up on new ones. It’s very rare for a team to already have the best in the business.
Practice good squad rotation. Make sure that you’ve got suitable backups for every position, and be sure to rotate players in and out as needed.
If you follow these tips, you’ll get rid of the injury problems and will be much more successful.
Note that these tips work for all versions of the game going back to at least FM17. I strongly doubt the game will change so dramatically in the future that these tips would suddenly become obsolete.
