Yeah, I’m pretty dumb.
This guy, Kim Myong-Chol, is technically our best goalkeeper. However, he’s also 30 years old and isn’t getting any better.
He’s always been prone to giving up goals. I mean, just look at these stats:
Sure, our defense is awful — but, still, this guy gave up 202 goals in only 46 games his first season. He’s not good.
I wound up with a few nice newly generated keepers - in particular this guy:
Thanks to Football Manager’s wonderful newgen face system, this kid actually looks older than the other guy. But whatever. The point is that he’s got more of an upside, and I think I can turn him into a good player if I give him the chance.
And so I decided to make Kim Myong-Chol my second choice keeper.
And, boy, did he get mad.
He’s now on the Under 21s squad so his upset feelings don’t infect the rest of the squad.
I’ve tried for a mutual termination, but he won’t have any of it. He’s got a year and a half left on his contract, and the board laughed at me when I tried to release him outright.
And so we’re stuck with him.
I probably should have handled it better. Still — it pains me to keep putting a guy out there that allowed 202 goals in 46 matches. Surely we can do better.
What do you think?
