Football Manager Addiction
I’ve suffered from Football Manager addiction before.
Yes, it’s a real thing. Yes, it can happen to you. And, no, it’s not just a meme or something to joke about.
Football Manager addiction can flare up when you are at your lowest point in life. You might find yourself pushing away your loved ones and friends, ignoring your work or school duties and focusing only on grinding through the game.
Playing Football Manager for 8 or more hours per day is not healthy, no matter who you are. Yes, I know there are Football Manager content creators much bigger and better known than me who pour that much time and energy into their saves. And, no, I don’t think the financial compensation makes it okay.
If you find yourself sliding into this territory, take a break and step back. Talk with the people around you; any topic is fine (you don’t have to make it about whatever is bothering you). Slow things down in your life. Take a break from the game. Don’t feel obliged to delete everything to kill off the dopamine. Just take a break, take some time out, slow things down, and try to focus again on the things that are most important to you.
We’re in this together. Let’s support each other in our hardest times.
