Back Home For The First Time
It’s still bizarre to think about, but it’s true. Our first home game of the season finally came, 5 games into our adventure. And we almost lost.
If you believe in xG, you’ll think that we dominated the match. If you watched the match, though, you’ll know that we played poorly. We gave up a goal in the first 5 minutes, came up with an equalizer, scored another, but really couldn’t get the offense kicking the way that we should. We’ve got some problems.
Jim Roche scored 2 of our 3 goals, but Daryl Daley wound up with the Player of the Match award. He had one key pass after another, even though he wound up with 0 goal contributions. Not a bad match by him.
Getting To Know You
David Korn, our goalkeeper, had a particularly bad match today. It’s really not like him to play so poorly.
Korn hails from Milcreek, Utah, which is practically on the campus of the University of Utah. I’m not sure how we stole him away from them, but I’m not giving him back. I guess you could call Milcreek a “suburb” of Salt Lake City, but you wouldn’t if you’ve ever been there.
Anyway, Korn is a good player, and is probably one of the best goalkeepers in the west. No complaints from me.
Next comes Matt Williams, one of our many centerbacks.
Williams is another 26-year-old. I guess the computer got stuck on the age issue when it was creating the players. He hails from West Valley City, where I spent a few years of my early childhood.
Williams is another good player, though I normally wouldn’t want anything to do with him due to his dislike of big matches. One thing this project will show is how foolish some of my deeply held Football Manager prejudices really are.
Kent State
We’re on the road against Kent State this time around.
Don’t ask me why we’re playing such a lowly team. We should win this one easily.
